Emily Alagha, a HAPI student, published an article with Dr. Fugh-Berman in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice. The article, Pharmaceutical marketing: the example of drug samples, reviews current research on drug samples and marketing. Contrary to popular belief, the research suggests that drug sampling actually increases drug costs for everyone, driving low-income patients towards newer drugs that have not been adequately tested.
